Disadvantages of Indian Education System-

Image

Going to abroad for education, its number is increasing day by day because of flaws in Indian Education System. Such as Most subjects, such as chemistry and physics, focus on textbook knowledge, when they could be fun applied subjects to learn. There is lesser focus on physical education and sports, and more focus on studying all day long. Sex Education is not given in Indian Schools, which is something that needs to be thoughtfully inculcated each year for students. There is lesser focus on character building, as many schools do not have lessons on etiquette and mannerisms. The subject matter and homework puts a tremendous amount of stress on students, which is incredibly difficult for many to bear. Large classes in schools means that there is lesser focus on each student’s learning. This is hazardous to a student’s education journey during, as well as after school. Since most knowledge is only memorized and not retained for the long run, students feel lost after school. Many even remain unemployed. Many schools charge exorbitant fees, which becomes a burden for parents. Schools with affordable fees generally have lesser funds, which affect the quality of education. Examinations are more focused on end results, rather than continuous learning.

Because of these flaws in education system most students prefer going to abroad for education. The curriculum of foreign universities follows a more practical approach in education and encourages fresh research other than what has already been discovered. Research in foreign universities is funded by some of the biggest organizations of the world, such as Google, Microsoft. Hence research initiatives offered there are better.

Most of the universities in European colleges and US-based colleges allow students the options to switch subjects and don’t limit them to just one subject. Universities in the US and some other developed countries update their curriculum every few years, hence offering more advanced education. Foreign Universities have a mixed group of students coming from various countries. Therefore a student gets better exposure.

It is as though is the set rule that if a student has a good score he/she has to opt for science related subjects whereas if a student fails scoring well he/she must ether opt for commerce or arts related subjects. However, foreign education system encourages a student to go for a subject based on his/her liking.

To become eligible for most of the job openings in India, one has to have a degree regardless of the level of knowledge you have. Unlike India, foreign country’s education is taken as learning process and students learn the concepts while they study and apply those in their work culture.

Each of us is very well aware of the fact that scoring good marks is extremely vital to get into a good school/college. This not only restricts a student from exploring his/her horizons but also blocks their creative side. In contrast, foreign education system allows and encourages a student to think out of the box and manifests their creative side. So that students have only theoretical knowledge, they don't have practical knowledge. So company cannot hire such persons who know only theory, because of that unemployment is also increases.

In most of the foreign countries, there is free primary education given to kids and is included in the law, to minimize child labour. Indian education on the other hand has become a business now. Even the though the teachers aren’t being paid well, the fee structure and other expenses are too costly for a middle class person to afford.

Education is organic; it keeps growing and evolves with time and the human mind. This is the major reason why education provided in different nations of the world is different. The principles on which education systems are formed are different for every nation. However, the aim is similar, i.e. to instil creativity within the human mind. India being a developing nation lacks funds and hence there is a need to gather funds and use them to enhance the education system. Beginning with more research-oriented education, there are a lot of things that we need to achieve, such as flexibility, updating the curriculum, global knowledge, etc.

There are plenty of reasons why foreign educational systems are better than us and there is no shame in adapting good things from others. So wait till our system changes, or immigrate to study abroad, for new experience and a unique exposure.
