Coding (also called programming or developing) is telling a computer, app, phone or website what you want it to do. Some educators and experts are calling it the ‘new literacy’—a subject so important that every child needs to know the basics to excel in our rapidly changing world.
Kids Coding Curriculum
Using interactive game-play, animation and story-telling, the children are introduced to sequencing through simple commands with Lego blocks,
Progressing to group coding on a large screen.
Each week, predefined tasks are completed, building up the children’s grasp of basic computer commands as they explore an ever increasing variety of commands.
Selection and repetition are introduced as part of story-telling, with the children being encouraged to creatively extend story lines through coding.
In the latter stages of the course, more complex coding constructs are gently introduced.
